This page is the first and ONLY page I will make that will appear in both Sections and contain both Sonic and Inuyasha on the same page. Welcome to the "Similarities" page! So, what's this page about? Well, from the time I was a little eight-year-old girl I always managed to see some way that the universes of Sonic and Inuyasha were alike. Be they certain characters or the plot in general, there was always something similar or the same that I could point out. Essentially, this page is like a little chronicle to all the similarities of the two universes. If you're interested, please read on! Inuyasha and Sonic/Shadow/KnucklesFirst of all I should start with the main character(s). Ever since I started watching Inuyasha years ago I always thought of him as a sort of cross between Sonic and Shadow The Hedgehog as well as Knuckles The Echidna (a tad bit, just a tad). I associated him with Sonic mainly for the fact they were both the heroes and they run in almost the same fashion (their arms behind them or out to the side a little). He and Sonic are also very impatient (I remember in one episode Inuyasha's leg started twitching because he was getting tired of waiting, XD) and they both tend to act first before thinking. Let's not forget how cocky they both are to their enemies! Inuyasha and Shadow are the most similar, in my opinion. For one thing, they were both sealed away for exactly 50 years. Shadow was sealed on Prison Island in suspended animation, Inuyasha was suspended by an enchanted arrow from a tree. In the beginning of the series Inuyasha also shared Shadow's desire to work alone and they both also have special abilities. Inuyasha isn't a whole lot like Knuckles, but they both share almost the same level of density (it's proven numerous times in the series just how dense Inuyasha really is) and their hot-tempered nature and moodiness. Kagome and Amy RoseOnly recently did I realize this but Kagome is more like Amy than any other character (except Ayame in certain situations). She and Amy are both couragous and strong-willed girls. They both have a level of spunk to them and when they're angry they let you know it personally. In fact, I could almost switch their positions with each other and they'd still act like each other. Koga and Sonic/ShadowThis was another one I noticed many years ago. Whenever Koga's alone (without Inuyasha around at least) he acts on dime almost and he and Sonic both boast about their speed. In fact, they both say the same line of "No one is faster than me!". While Sonic may not make a whirlwind in his wake upon blasting off at 600 MPH like Koga, he DOES tend to leave a trail of fire on some occasions. Koga and Sonic are both also cheeky to their opponants and tend to use forward attacks or their speed alone to deal with certain enemies. Koga may not be a whole lot like Shadow, but when he's in the same space as Inuyasha his role tends to flip to being like Shadow depending on the situation. Essentially, whenever he and Inuyasha are fighting it's almost like watching a fight between Sonic and Shadow; Inuyasha being Sonic and Koga being Shadow. Even when they're working together their roles are almost like Sonic and Shadow when they were fighting the Final Hazard in SA2. Ayame and Amy RoseI personally think this clip proves the point quite nicely (think of Koga as Sonic and Ayame as Amy, and you should see the similarity immediately). Both Amy and Ayame (besides their similarity in name) are very spunky and stubborn to a fault. They can also be very determined when they need to be. Although this point can be argued, Ayame can also appear to be "weak" like Amy, but in fact they can both be surprisingly strong when they need to be. Jewels of PowerBOTH universes have Jewels with immense and possibly deadly power! And you know what? They're the most alike thing in the entire similarity! Here's my reasoning: Sonic's world has the seven Chaos Emeralds and Master Emerald and Inuyasha's world has the Shikon Jewel. Whenever the seven Chaos Emeralds are gathered together along with the Master Emerald, one can own the entire universe if one desired. The same goes with the Shikon Jewel, whoever has it has the power to do almost anything. When someone just has one Chaos Emerald they have a fairly large amount of power at their disposal, but not as much as one would have if they had all seven and the Master. If someone has just one Shikon shard, they have enough power to bring back a dead person. Everyone wants and desires the Jewels powers in both universes. Naraku wants the Shikon Jewel's power for himself, Eggman wants the Chaos Emeralds to help him take over the world. Of course the respective heroes almost always manage to stop them^_^. Both Jewels also have a light and dark side to them. If the Chaos Emeralds are used by a good person, that person takes on the positive energy of the Chaos Emeralds (that's how Sonic turns Super). In contrast, if one with anger or resentment in their hearts uses the Chaos Emeralds they take on the negative energy of the Emeralds (thus resulting in Dark Sonic from Sonic X). Same applies to the Shikon Jewel, when with someone who is good the Jewel becomes purified, when the Jewel is with someone of evil it becomes tainted. Both Jewels are also subject to color changes depending on who possesses them. When Chaos was transforming into Perfect Chaos at the end of Sonic Adventure, the negative energy of the Chaos Emeralds were consumed by the out-of-control monster, resulting in the emeralds turning a gray hue of their respective colors. This same effect also happens to them when Sonic becomes Dark Sonic. Then, when the emeralds are being used by a pure soul, they shine brightly making them a lighter hue of their colors. With the Shikon Jewel, as a purified gem it normally shines bright pinkish-purple. Depending on how long it's within the range of an evil aura, its color then varies between various shades of purple to solid black. In one episode scene, however, it was shown for a brief second to be glowing red after being cut out of a demon, although the red color could have been from blood. The Guardian's Sacrifice -- Midoriko and TikalWhile we're on the subject of the Jewels of Power, let's consider their creators/guardians as well. In Inuyasha Midoriko is described as the "purest and most powerful human to ever walk Japan". She was able to purify any demon and render them completely harmless, making her a valuable warrior priestess. Of course, someone with such power posed obvious threat to the demons who held no shred of human emotions. Because of that, Midoriko was ambushed by a pack of demons who faught relentlessly with her. They faught for many a day, until in one split second Midoriko's defenses were broken through by one of the demons who grasped her in his mouth. With the last of her strength, Midoriko thrust her heart out of her body in the form of the Shikon No Tama, sealing both herself and the demons within it, and to this day the battle continues on inside the Jewel for good and evil. Now, let's look at the Sonic version of this. Tikal was a princess of an ancient echidna tribe. Her father and fellow villagers were striken with greed for power, but not Tikal. Tikal was pure, she was loving, she didn't desire power nor did she have any shred of greed within her. It was these feelings that allowed her the acceptance of Chaos and the chao he guarded. One day, as she was at the altar playing with the chao her father and an army of her fellow echidnas stormed the altar, despite her pleas for them to leave the emeralds at peace. The echidna army trampled the poor chao and Tikal then proceeded toward the altar. Of course, this action provoked the wrath of Chaos who arose from the surrounding waters and used the Chaos Emeralds to transform into Perfect Chaos and kill all those foolish echidnas. Tikal, still alive somewhat, saw the rampage Chaos was on and knew she had to stop him, and so she went to the Master Emerald and prayed to it, which resulted in her sacrificing her own life so that she and Chaos were sealed away in the Master Emerald and so that Chaos wouldn't go out of control ever again (or at least until Sonic Adventure). So let's see, here we have two pure people who used the power of a jewel in some way to sacrifice their own lives to seal themselves inside said Jewels along with another beast. Furthermore their sacrifice brought on the coming of a Guardian lineage for both Jewels (the Shikon was passed from the village of its birth to various Priestesses like Kikyo, and the Master Emerald was passed down in Guardianship between the remaining echidnas like Knuckles and his ancestors).
